Georgia Tax Attorney

Hire a tax attorney who does it all the time.

Many people ask me if they are going to go to jail when they owe the IRS money. Some of the big companies try to increase that fear. The reality is, very few people have to deal with going to prison. The IRS saves that for people who intentionally evade taxes. However, the IRS can make your life very unpleasant. Their favorite weapons are tax levies (this is different than a tax lien. A lien is simply an IRS notice to the world that you owe them money). A tax levy is when the IRS takes action against you, specifically when they go after your money or your assets. Their number one favorite maneuver is a wage garnishment. If you have already been hit with a wage garnishment, get professional help immediately. In most cases you are going to need to get into a payment plan in order to get the wage garnishment lifted. If you have not yet been hit with a wage garnishment, count yourself as lucky. Keep in mind, the IRS has over a hundred thousand employees, and some pretty sophisticated computers to track everybody. So be smart. Start solving your problems before it get to that point.

The IRS also likes to garnish bank accounts. They can find any bank account that is in your name. They will also on occasion sell off your assets. I am not telling you any of this to scare you. You are probably aware of all these possibilities. What I do want you to do is take action. You are miles ahead, if you start to solve your IRS problem before the IRS has targeted you.

Most of my clients tell me they have gotten “something like 50 letters from all these different companies promising them miraculous results.” They also tell me they get endless phone calls from those companies. If you do a web search on some of those big companies, it won’t be long before you find a bunch of complaints with the Better Business Bureau and sometimes with the Attorney General of different states and sometimes even lots of lawsuits.

If you really want to solve your IRS problem and let’s face it, anybody with an IRS problem wants it to be over with. You do need help. The IRS is a bureaucracy with tons of rules and regulations. The tax code is complicated. There are lots of pitfalls for the inexperienced. The question really comes down to how do you find someone you can trust? Ask yourself if you want a big company that hires salespeople to “sign you up” and then you never hear from those people again, and then they turn you over to a “tax specialist” that they have put through a training course, or do you want a real tax attorney who works with real people solving their tax problems everyday, of every month, year after year.
